Ich will euch nicht verheimlichen, wo ich gewohnt habe. Bei dieser Reise war alles dabei: einfache Ryokans, Luxusherberge, ein Nachtzug. \/ I also want to show you where I stayed. Everything was included: simply Ryokans, luxuary hotels and an overnight train.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Hotel Edoya<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Seit meiner ersten Reise ist dies meine Unterkunft in Tokyo. Es war 2004 mein allererster Eindruck von Japan. Seitdem hat sich im Hotel nicht viel ver\u00e4ndert. Bis auf ein Mal habe ich immer das Zimmer 307 gehabt … wird Zeit f\u00fcr eine Namensschild. \/ Since my first trip to Japan this is my place in Tokyo. The hotel hasn’t changed since 2004. Only one time I had another room than 307 … it is time for a name plate on the door.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Das Edoya ist ein Ryokan Hotel. Es hat Zimmer im japanischen Stil und ein Mini-Onsen auf dem Dach. Es liegt extrem verkehrsg\u00fcnstig in Yushima, Bunkyo-ku<\/a>, 15 Minuten vom Bahnhof Keisei Ueno Eki<\/a> entfernt (Skyliner<\/a> von\/zum Airport). Die wichtigsten Bahnlinien zu allen Orten Tokyos liegen in einem Radius von 10 Gehminuten. \/ The Edoya is a Ryokan hotel. It provides japanese styled rooms and has a mini onsen on the roof. It is located in Yushima next to important train and subway stations. It is 15 min away by walking from Keisei Ueno Eki,<\/span><\/a> where the\u00a0Skyliner<\/span><\/a> to Narita airport starts.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Gleich neben dem Edoya liegt der Yushima Tenmangu. Ein kleiner aber sehr h\u00fcbscher Schrein. In\u00a0 unter 10 Fu\u00dfminuten kommt man nach Akihabara, zum Uenopark oder nach Ochanomizu (Kanda Myoin und andere Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten). Wesentlich wichtiger ist die gute Erreichbarkeit der Yamanote, Ginza-Linie und Chiyoda-Linie und die in durchaus akzeptabler Entfernung liegende Chuo-Line. Damit erreicht man alle wichtigen Punkte in Tokyo nahezu ohne umzusteigen (Asakusa, Kaiserpalast, Ginza, Shiodome, Shibuya, Shinjuku, \u2026). Das Nachtleben in Ueno kann mit Kabukicho und Shibuya nicht mithalten, ist aber ausreichend. Damit ist dieser Hotelstandort strategisch optimal. \/ Next to the hotel is the Yushima Tenmangu. A nice little shrine. Within 10 minutes you can walk to Akihabara, the Ueno park or Ochanomizu (Kanda Myoin, Yushima Seido). Even more important is the quick access to the Yamanote, the Ginza- and the Chiyoda-Line, and also the Chuo-Line. You can reach every intersting point in Tokyo: Asakusa, emperor palace, Ginza, Shiodome, Shibuya, Shunjuku, …). The night life in Ueno is not the same as in Shibuya or Kabukicho, but it is ok. Therefore the hotel has an perfect\u00a0 location.<\/span> <\/em><\/p>\n

Wegbeschreiung:<\/em> F\u00fcr die Anreise ab Nartia Airport empfiehlt sich der Keisei Liner nach Ueno. Es ist die Endstation. Man kann sich also nicht verfahren. Entweder man geht zu Fu\u00df (15 Minuten) oder nimmt sich ein Taxi. Fu\u00dfg\u00e4ngern empfehle ich: am Uenopoark vorbei und einen kleinen Umweg \u00fcber den Yushima Tenmangu. Die Treppe zum Schrein ist nervig aber allemal besser als die Steigung der Stra\u00dfe. Und man hat schon das erste Highlight gesehen, bevor man eingecheckt hat. Folgt der Stra\u00dfe auf der anderen Schreinseite bis zur ersten Kreuzung und biegt links ab. \/ Arriving at Narita Airport use the Keisei Liner. This train terminates in Ueno. From there you can walk or get a taxi. If you walk, go around the the Ueno park to the south until you reach at Yushima Tenmangu. Climb the stairs up to the shrine and follow the street on the other side of the shrine until the frist cross. Turn left. Note that the stairs are annoying but they are much better the walking up the road.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Bei der Suche nach einem Hotel bin ich \u00fcber die Fotos von diesem Hotel gestolpert und es stand fest: Da mu\u00df ich hin (vgl. einen meiner ersten Artikel). Und in der Tat: Das Ding hat nicht nur Style, das Ding ist Style. Das ganze Hotel schreit ist modernes Japan pur. Die Musik die mir sofort dazu einfiel war Jazz und Funk – Jamiroquai. \/ While I was searching for a hotel in Sapporo I stopped at a picture of the lobby of this hotel. That was the moment I decided for this spot. This thing is style. My first idea when I entered the hotel was Jazz and Funk – Jamiroquai.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

N\u00fcchtern betrachtet ist es ein Business hotel. Modern eingerichtete Zimmer mit Bett. Das Design funktional aber hat Stil. In der obersten Etage ist ein Bad mit Panoramascheibe. Der Blick auf Sapporo bei Nacht hat was. The restaurant is teuer (wie immer in Japan) aber gut. An der Cocktailbar kann man den Tag ausklingen lassen. \/ It is\u00a0 a business hotel that provides western-style rooms. The design is functional but with a lot of style. There is a common bath room in the upper floor. The tub is next to a big window. The view over Sapporo at night is stunning. The restaurant is pricy (like always in Japan) but good. The cocktail bar provides some good drinks.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Das Hotel liegt 10 Gehminuten vom Bahnhof entfernt. Von hier sind es 5 Minuten zum Clocktower und 10 Minuten zum Nullpunkt des Stra\u00dfennetzes von Sapporo. \/ The hotel is 10 minutes away from the train station, 5 minutes away from the famous clock tower and 10 minutes away from the zero point of the street network.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Diese Hotel ist nur f\u00fcr eine \u00dcbernachtung gebucht. Ich wollte nicht riskieren die F\u00e4hre am gleichen Tag wie die lange Zugfahrt zu nehmen. Eine Versp\u00e4tung irgendwo ich ich h\u00e4tte ein Problem gehabt. Das Hotel ist recht einfach gehalten – wie alle Hotels der Dormy Inn Kette. Aber es fehlt an nichts. Ein Gemeinschaftsbad bietet sogar etwas Onsen-Flair. Der Service ist japantypisch. Und es liegt nur 5 Minuten vom Bahnhof und 10 Minuten Fu\u00dfmarsch vom F\u00e4hranleger entfernt. \/ I only stayed for one night and only because I didn’t want to risk to miss the only train that connect to the last ferry boat to Rishiri.<\/span> The hotel is standard, like all hotels of the Dormy Inn group. The service is like always in Japan, good. The common bath also provides the spirit of onsen. The big benefit is the location: Only 5 minutes walk to the train station and 10 minutes walk to the ferry boat.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Dormy Inn und Tanakaya<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Ein einfaches Ryokan mit Onsen. Der erste Eindruck ist n\u00fcchtern. Aber das macht das Personal durch Freudlichkeit und Service wieder wett. Ich wurde sogar vom F\u00e4hranleger abgeholt ohne darum gebeten zu haben. Und es lohnt sich Kanjis zu lernen; sonst h\u00e4tte ich das Schild sicherlich nicht gelesen. \/ It is a simple Ryokan with an onsen. The first impression was a little bit, let’s call it unfixed. But the service was really good. They picked me up at the harbour. I didn’t asked for it. And it was good read Kanji. Ortherweise I would have missed the guy with the sign Ta-Naka-Ya.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Die Zimmer sind einfach, haben aber ein eigenes Bad. Das Abendessen ist reichlich und beinhaltet die Lokalspezialit\u00e4t Uni (Seeigel). Ein herzlichen Dank unter anderem an das Ryokanpersonal f\u00fcr den Tip mit dem Izakaya und den Shuttleservice jeden Tag. \/ The room was a simple japanese styled room with private bathroom. The dinner was plenty and inculded the local specialty uni (see urchin). And many thanks to the ryokan personal for the suggestion of the Izakaya and also for the shuttle service ervery day.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Yamanoue<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Ist dieser Ort doch in den Reisef\u00fchrern als teuer verschrien und zu touristisch; Hm. Dann war ich wohl in einem anderen Sounkyo. Das Ryokan Yamanoue (auch hier kann ich alle Kanjis lesen und schreiben) ist einfach und erinnert an gewissen stellen an eine einfache Herberge. Mein Zimmer war japanisch, allerdings ohne Bad. Es gab in der ganzen Herberge keine Dusche. Denn als Gast hatte man jeden Tag eine Tagesticket f\u00fcr das Onsen nebenan. Mehr geht nicht. Das Personal war supernett. Der Chef hatte mich sogar bei meiner Wanderung durch die Schlucht aufgegabelt und zur\u00fcck gefahren. Das sparte mir 4km Fu\u00dfmarsch. Die Tips die ich bekam haben mich erst dazu ermutigt die Monster-Wanderung nach Asahidake umd zur\u00fcck durchzuf\u00fchren. Daf\u00fcr und f\u00fcr das leckere Abendessen geh\u00f6rt dem Ryokanteam mein ewiger Dank. \/ Sounkyo was mentioned in the travel guide as a expensive place overrun by tourists. Hm, looks like I visited a different Sounkyo. The Kanji are read Yama-No-Ue (top of the mountain).\u00a0 The Ryokan was simple and sometimes reminded me a little bit of a hostel. My room was japanese style without a bath room. There was a shower at the end of the hallway but you don’t need it. Because every day you get a free pass for the onsen. It is just next door. Extreme relaxing. And the personal of the Ryokan was extremly helpful. The owner picked me up by accident at the end of my walk thru the canyon. It saved me 4km. The also helped me to plan man day trip in the mountains.<\/em> <\/span><\/p>\n

Das Ryokan liegt in der Mitte von Sounkyo. 7 Minuten von der Buststation entfernt mitten in der Fu\u00dfg\u00e4ngerzone. Von hier sind es nur 5 Minuten zur Seilbahn, die einen in den Daisetsuzan-Nationalpark bringt. \/ The ryokan is in the in the center of Sounkyo. 7 minutes away from the bus station. From there it is a 5 minutes walk to the ropeway into the Daisatsuzan National Park.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Dieses Hotel war Luxus. Wow. Dagegen kann das Radisson trotz seiner 5 Sterne nicht antreten. Wie ich dieses Hotel f\u00fcr knapp 90 Euro buchen konnte bleibt mir ein R\u00e4tsel. dunkle schwere H\u00f6lzer, dezente Beleuchtung und dazu ein moderner Stil in der Raumgestaltung. Dieses Hotel ist wirklich „Resort and Spa“. Der Eingangsbereich ist flankiert von Restos der gehobenen Klasse. Der Au\u00dfenbereich und die Architektur sind von traditionellen japanischen Elementen bestimmt. \/ The hotel was luxury. The 5 star Radission in Luebeck is no match. It is still a mistery how I was able to book a room for only $120: dark woods, decent lighting, luxury styled rooms. This hotel really is a „resort and spa“. The area in front of the hotel is flanked by restos. All is japanese styled but with a pleasant amount of western elements.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Mein Zimmer war klein und elegant. Kr\u00f6nung sind aber das Onsen im 14. Stock mit Au\u00dfenbecken und die Cocktailbar. Hier war der Kellner der Inbegriff eines Barchefs. Allerdings mu\u00df ich ihm beim n\u00e4chsten mal das „Sir“ abgew\u00f6hnen. Das macht alt. \/ My romm was small but elegant. But the cherry on top is the onsen in 14F (on the roof), and also is the service in the cocktail bar. The bar keeper was personification of good service and manners. But his „Sir“ maked me felling old.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Das Hotel liegt direkt an den „Brick Warehouses“ im alten Hafen von Hakodate. Man sollte vom Bahnhof ein Taxi nehmen. F\u00fcr eine Besichtigung von Motomachi ist es dagegen ideal. Der alte Stadtbereich von Hakodate beginnt n\u00e4mlich bei den Warehouses. Die Stra\u00dfenbahn h\u00e4lt vor dem Hotel. \/ The hotel is right next to the brick warehouses in the older harbour area of Hakodate. Take a taxi. For visiting Motomachi the hotel location is perfect, because it starts right behind the warehouses. The tram is stopping in front of the hotel too.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

[Update 2011: The tsunami also hit the harbour area of Hakodate. I don’t know how big the damages are. Motomachi shoul be fine. It is located uphill.]\n

Hokutosei<\/strong><\/a>
\nEr sollte erw\u00e4hnt werden, denn auch hier habe ich eine Nacht verbracht. Allerdings stehen Preis (90\u20ac trotz JR Pass !) und Zimmergr\u00f6\u00dfe (2,5m^2) in keiner Relation. Daf\u00fcr ist es der Hokutosei, der auf Japaner eine erstaunliche Faszination aus\u00fcbt. Immer wenn ich erw\u00e4hnte, da\u00df ich damit reise, gingen die Augenbrauen hoch bis zum Haaransatz. Dabei ist der Hokutosei kein Br\u00fcller. Er hat Stil. Aber der ist dem Charm der 70er geschuldet. Sprich: Der Zug ist in die Jahre gekommen. \/ The Hokutosei has to be mentioned too, because I spent one night in the train. But the price ($120 even with JRP) is in no relation to the room size (27 ft^2). But is was the Hokutosei. In Japan this is a classic. Like the Oriental Express. It also hat the same old, dusty charme. Ok, for the Hokutosei the big time were the 70ies.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n
