2023 war ich f\u00fcr ein Jahre in den USA. Jetzt ist es Trumpistan.<\/span>

Heute geht es zur\u00fcck, aber nicht ohne drei wichtige Orte besucht zu haben: MASH, Santa Monica und Venice Beach. Nach dem Checkout geht es los, mit dem Mietwagen. Rauf auf die 101, an der I-5 und der I-405 vorbei. Die beiden Interstates kennen die meisten Leute aus dem Verkehrsfunk. F\u00fcr diese Stra\u00dfe hat google-maps, die Farbe lila im Programm; teilweise 6 Spuren in eine Richtung und zur Rush Hour trotzdem kilometerlange Staus.<\/p>\n

Star Trek<\/a> —<\/strong> Mein Ziel ist der Woodley Park<\/a> im S\u00fcden des San Fernando Valley<\/a>. Hier ist das „Donald C Tillman Water Reclamatrion Plant<\/a>„. Aus irgendeinem Grund hat es einen japanische Garten und das Geb\u00e4ude kennt man von Star Trek. Leider habe ich die Rechnung ohne den Feiertag gemacht. Die Tore sind geschlossen. Und ein nerviger Bauzaun stiehlt den Rest der Sicht. Das ist ja mal ein Start in den Tag.<\/p>\n

Also zur\u00fcck auf die 101. Bis Deer Springs. Dann geht es auf einer Landstra\u00dfe weiter. Mein Ziel ist der Malibu Creek State Park<\/a>. Schnell den Wagen geparkt und Getr\u00e4nke am Automaten gebunkert. Die Wanderung geht los.<\/p>\n

M*A*S*H<\/a> —<\/strong> Die Wanderung beginnt entspannt. Hier sind viel Touristen unterwegs. Ich biege links ab, jetzt habe ich meine Ruhe. Und ich sehe warum. Vor mir ist der Las Virgenes Creek, aber eine Br\u00fccke zum passieren. Ich arbeite mich langsam durch das Wasser. 300m sp\u00e4ter, am Visitor Center, muss ich wieder \u00fcber den Fluss. Hier gibt es eine Br\u00fccke. Ich bin wieder auf dem Weg, den all die anderen Touris genommen haben.<\/p>\n

Aber unsere Wege trennen sich. Fast alle gehen runter zu einer Badestelle am Fluss. Der Weg windet sich. Links. Rechts. Bergauf. Bergab. Dann komme ich zu einem Abzweigen auf dem dem Century Lake Dam<\/em> steht. Und da ist noch ein Schild. Hier wurden Szenen f\u00fcr Planet of the Apes<\/em> (1968)<\/a> gedreht. Das war auf meiner Wanderkarte nicht erw\u00e4hnt.<\/p>\n

Ich folge dem Wanderweg, der jetzt parallel zum Fluss l\u00e4uft. Es geht auf die andere Flussseite. Der Weg wird schmaler, ist fast zu gewachsen. Und ich sehe sehr viele verkohlte Baumst\u00e4mme. Stimmt. Vor zwei Jahren war hier ein riesiger Waldbrand.<\/p>\n

Und dann steht er da. Ein Dodge WC54 4×4<\/a>; ein Krankenwagen, wie man ihn aus der Serie kennt. Ich scheine da zu sein. Der Wanderweg weitet sich zu einer Lichtung. Ich stehe am ehemaligen Filmset. Rechts standen die Zelte und das OP-Geb\u00e4ude.<\/p>\n

Ich sehe den Wegweiser. Es ist ein Nachbau. Das Original (eines von drei) ist beim erw\u00e4hnten Waldbrand zerst\u00f6rt worden. Dort wo in der Serie der Steinkreis war, steht eine weitere Krankenwagen. komplett vom Feuer zerst\u00f6rt; genau wie der Jeep ein paar Meter weiter. Schade. Gerade wenn man \u00fcberlegt, dass das hier alles privat von Fans organisiert wurde.<\/p>\n

Ich laufe hoch zum Helipad. und schaue mich um. Da ist der Berg aus dem Intro. Ich erwarte, dass da gleich ein Hubschrauber um die Kurve kommt. Passiert nat\u00fcrlich nicht. Ich gehe kurz runter zum Fluss und \u00fcberlege, ob da Szenen gedreht wurden. Ich kann mich nicht erinnern.<\/p>\n

Nach einem Stapel Fotos, mache ich mich auf den Weg zur\u00fcck. Dieses Mal k\u00fcrze ich nicht durch den Fluss ab und nehme den leicht l\u00e4ngeren Weg. Ein Schuld verr\u00e4t, hier wurden Szenen f\u00fcr The Rifleman<\/a><\/em> (1958) gdreht. Hollywood ist halt gleich um die Kurve, mehr oder weniger.<\/p>\n

Malibu<\/a> —<\/strong> Ich folge der Malibu Canyon Road durch die Berge nach S\u00fcden nach Malibu. Nach ein paar Fotos an der Malibu Lagoon geht es zur\u00fcck nach LA. Vom Malibu Beach sieht man nicht viel. H\u00e4user versperren die Sicht. Diese langweile Seite an der Stra\u00dfe sieht man nie, wenn sie die Einstellungen unten am Strand drehen.<\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span> Es folgt ein Strand nach dem anderen. Es ist wie die Strecke Timmendorf<\/a>–Scharbeutz<\/a>–Haffkrug<\/a>–Sierkdorf<\/a>; nur viel l\u00e4nger und leider weniger idyllisch.<\/p>\n

Today we are heading back, but not without visiting three important places: MASH, Santa Monica and Venice Beach. After checking out, we set off in the rental car. Up onto the 101, past the I-5 and the I-405. Most people know the two interstates from traffic reports. For this road, google maps has the color purple in the program; sometimes 6 lanes in one direction and still miles of traffic jams during rush hour.<\/p>\n

Star Trek<\/a> —<\/strong> My destination is Woodley Park<\/a> in the south of the San Fernando Valley<\/a>. Here is the \u201cDonald C Tillman Water Reclamation Plant<\/a>\u201d. For some reason it has a Japanese garden and the building is familiar from Star Trek. Unfortunately, I didn’t count on the holiday. The gates are closed. And an annoying construction fence steals the rest of the view. What a way to start the day.<\/p>\n

So back onto the 101 as far as Deer Springs. Then I continue on a country road. My destination is Malibu Creek State Park<\/a>. I quickly park the car and stock up on drinks at the vending machine. The hike begins.<\/p>\n

M*A*S*H<\/a> —<\/strong> The hike begins in a relaxed manner. There are lots of tourists here. I turn left, now I have my peace and quiet. And I can see why. In front of me is Las Virgenes Creek, but there is a bridge to cross. I slowly work my way through the water. 300m later, at the visitor center, I have to cross the river again. There is a bridge here. I’m back on the path that all the other tourists have taken.<\/p>\n

But we part ways. Almost everyone goes down to a bathing spot by the river. The path winds. Left. Right. Uphill. Downhill. Then I come to a turn-off with a sign for Century Lake Dam. And there’s another sign. Scenes for Planet of the Apes<\/em> (1968)<\/a> were filmed here. This was not mentioned on my hiking map.<\/p>\n

I follow the hiking trail, which now runs parallel to the river. It goes to the other side of the river. The path becomes narrower, almost too grown. And I see a lot of charred tree trunks. That’s right. There was a huge forest fire here two years ago.<\/p>\n

And then there it is. A Dodge WC54 4×4<\/a>; an ambulance like the ones you see in the series. I seem to be there. The hiking trail widens into a clearing. I’m standing at the former movie set. On the right were the tents and the surgery building.<\/p>\n

I see the signpost. It is a replica. The original (one of three) was destroyed in the aforementioned forest fire. Where the stone circle was in the series, there is another ambulance, completely destroyed by the fire, just like the jeep a few meters further on. What a pity. Especially when you consider that this was all organized privately by fans.<\/p>\n

I walk up to the helipad and look around. There’s the mountain from the intro. I expect to see a helicopter coming around the bend. Doesn’t happen, of course. I go down to the river for a moment and think about whether scenes were filmed there. I can’t remember.<\/p>\n

After a stack of photos, I make my way back. This time I don’t cut through the river and take the slightly longer route. A debt reveals that scenes for he Rifleman<\/a><\/em> (1958) were filmed here. Hollywood is just around the bend, more or less.<\/p>\n

Malibu<\/a> —<\/strong> I follow Malibu Canyon Road south through the mountains to Malibu. After a few photos at Malibu Lagoon, I head back to LA. You can’t see much of Malibu Beach. Houses block the view. You never see this boring side of the road when they shoot the shots down at the beach.<\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> It’s one beach after another. It’s like the Timmendorf<\/a>–Scharbeutz<\/a>–Haffkrug<\/a>–Sierkdorf<\/a> stretch; only much longer and unfortunately less idyllic.<\/p>\n
