Samtag, 27.04.2024 – Technikmuseum Speyer und Heidelberg<\/h3>\n

Nach einem entspannten Fr\u00fchst\u00fcck und einen Blick auf die Uhr, stellen wir den Plan f\u00fcr heute um. Heute geht es ins Technikmuseum Sinsheim<\/a> und nach Heidelberg<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Spannendes ist nicht passiert. Wir sind gem\u00fctlich (120 mph) \u00fcber die Autobahn geglitten. Das Museum besticht wie schon bei meinem letzten Besuch durch eine Mischung aus Fahrzeugen, Flugzeugen und Lokomotiven. Obwohl, nach einem Jahr in den USA, speziell in Monterey, CA, ist mein Blick auf die Fahrzeugexponate anders. Und wenn ich recht \u00fcberlege, das Car Museum in Sacramento<\/a> hatte ein paar \u00fcberraschende Exoten. So etwas Spezielles fehlt hier, glaube ich.<\/p>\n<\/div>

After a relaxed breakfast and a glance at the clock, we change the plan for today. Today we’re going to the Sinsheim Museum of Technology<\/a> and to Heidelberg<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nothing exciting happened. We glided comfortably (120 mph) along the motorway. As on my last visit, the museum impresses with a mixture of vehicles, aeroplanes and locomotives. Although, after a year in the USA, especially in Monterey, CA, my view of the vehicle exhibits is different. And come to think of it, the Car Museum in Sacramento<\/a> had a few surprising exotics. Something that special is missing here, I think.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Im Technikmuseum gibt der Akku meiner Kamera auf. Ich hatte vergessen, ihn zu laden. Verdammt. Ich habe mich so daran gew\u00f6hnt, dass meine Pentax drei Backup-Akkus hatte (einen davon im Vertikalgriff), dass ich jetzt umlernen muss. Ich ich kaufe weitere Akkus und einen Vertikalgriff. Das hilft aber hier und jetzt nicht weiter und so sind alle Bilder aus Heidelberg mit meinem US-Smartphone aufgenommen (im Vergleich zu meinem dt. Knochen ist die Kamera zumindest akzeptabel schlecht).<\/p>\n

Und wir haben Gl\u00fcck mit der Umplanung der Reiseroute. Morgen findet ein Maratholauf statt. Dann wird die Innenstadt ein Chaos sein. Ich war zuletzt 2015 in Heidelberg. Viel ge\u00e4ndert hat sich nicht. Wir schlendern planlos durch die Altstadt. An der Heiliggeistkirche<\/a><\/em> kommt man ja automatisch vorbei. Die umgebenden Fachwerkh\u00e4user sorgen f\u00fcr die richtige „This is Germany“-Stimmung.<\/p>\n

The battery in my camera gives up in the technology museum. I had forgotten to charge it. Damn. I’ve got so used to the fact that my Pentax had three backup batteries (one of them in the vertical grip) that I now have to retrain. I buy more batteries and a vertical grip. But that doesn’t help here and now and so all the pictures from Heidelberg are taken with my US smartphone (compared to my German one, the camera is at least acceptably bad).<\/span><\/p>\n

And we are lucky with the rescheduling of the itinerary. There’s a marathon tomorrow. Then the city centre will be a mess. I was last in Heidelberg in 2015. Not much has changed. We stroll haphazardly through the old town. You automatically pass the Heiliggeistkirche<\/em><\/a> church. The surrounding half-timbered houses create the right \u2018Typisch Deutsch\u2019 atmosphere.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Wir gehen runter zur Alten Br\u00fccken<\/em><\/a> <\/span>1<\/sup><\/a><\/span>, um ein Blick auf das ber\u00fchmte Br\u00fcckentor zu werfen. Den Philosophenfweg<\/a><\/em> lassen wird aus. Es ist schon sp\u00e4t. An der Kornmarktmadonna<\/em> vorbei geht es zu den Treppen (Kurzer Buckel), die hinauf zum Schloss<\/em><\/a> f\u00fchren. Vor dem Aufstieg decken wir uns mit Proviant (Bier) ein. Oben am Schloss angegekommen ist es 18:05 und Schloss hat gerade geschlossen. Timing.<\/p>\n

Aber die restliche Anlage ist immer noch beeindruckend genug. Und ich vorangig hierher gekommen, um mit dem Ausblick auszugeben. Immerhin ist dies eines der Fotos, das man in fast jedem Reisef\u00fchrer f\u00fcr Deutschland findet. Und er Tag ist eigentlich auch schon rum. Sonnenuntergang ist etwa in einer halben Stunden.<\/p>\n<\/div>

We walk down to the Old Bridge<\/em><\/a> <\/span>2<\/sup><\/a><\/span> to take a look at the famous bridge gate. We skip the Philosopher’s Path <\/em>since it’s already late. We walk past the Kornmarktmadonna<\/em> to the steps (Kurzer Buckel) that lead up to the castle<\/em><\/a>. We stock up on provisions (beer) before the ascent. When we reach the top of the castle, it’s 18:05 and the castle has just closed. Timing.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the rest of the complex is still impressive enough. And I came here primarily to spend time with the view. After all, this is one of the photos you’ll find in almost every travel guide to Germany. And the day is actually already over. Sunset is about half an hour away.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Abendessen gab es dann in einem Restaurant in der Mitte von Nirgendwo, einem Ort namens Lorsch (ich wollte einen kleinen Umweg \u00fcber Mannheim machen, wegen der guten alten Zeit, habe aber ein paar Baustellen und Umleitungen vergessen).<\/p>\n

Der Name des italienischen Restaurants ist „La Famiglia“ und wir waren vermutlich die einzigen Nichtitaliener. Das Essen war lecker (Foto) und habe aber immer noch nicht raus, wie dieses Resto an diesem Standort \u00fcberleben kann.<\/p>\n

Nachdem klar wird, dass wir keine Eppelwoi-Kneipe mehr unserer Zeit in Frankfurt unterbrngen k\u00f6nnen, holen wir uns nach unserer R\u00fcckkehr nach Frankfurt zwei Dosen Bembel<\/a> an einem Sp\u00e4ti; besser als gar nichts.<\/p>\n<\/div>

We then had dinner in a restaurant in the middle of nowhere, a place called Lorsch (I wanted to make a small diversions via Mannheim because of the good old days, but forgot about a few roadworks and diversions).<\/span><\/p>\n

The name of the Italian restaurant is \u2018La Famiglia\u2019 and we were probably the only non-Italians. The food was delicious (photo) and still haven’t figured out how this resto can survive in this location.<\/span><\/p>\n

After realising that we can’t fit in any more Eppelwoi pubs in our time in Frankfurt, we pick up two cans of Bembel at a Sp\u00e4ti on our return to Frankfurt; better than nothing.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
