Sie verkehren auf den Tohoku-Strecken. Anders als auf der Tokaido-Seite, zweigen viele kleine Strecken von der Hauptstrecke ab, die ihre Besonderheiten haben (siehe hierzu Strecken). <\/em><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Baureihe E1 (1995-2012)<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Der E1 hatte ein klassisches Schnellzugdesign mit keilf\u00f6rmiger Front und war der erste Doppelstock-Shinkansen. Farbgebung: wei\u00df \u00fcber blau mit rosa Zierstreifen zwischen den Fensterreihen. Er hatte ein breites, nicht gew\u00f6lbtes Cockpitfenster, das fast Zugbreite hatte. Die Scheinwerfer waren unterhalb der Fenster. Die Beleuchtung befindet sich wie beim 400 er \u00fcber dem Cockpitfenster. Das Cockpit selbst ist etwas schmaler als der Zug. Die Farbgebung ist identisch zum E1. Im Apil 2003 wurde ein Geschwindigkeitsrekord f\u00fcr den Regelbetriebshinkansen 362 km\/h aufgestellt.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Baureihe E3 (Mini-Shinkansen)<\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Der E3\u00a0hat ein Standard-Schnellzugdesign mit Keilf\u00f6rmigen Profil und flacher Frontfl\u00e4che. Das Cockpit geht \u00fcber die gesamte Breite. Die Spitze ist tief. Die\u00a0Scheinwerfer sind unterhalb der Cockpitfenster.\u00a0Die Farbgebung der R-Variante (E3) erinnert an die ICE der Deutschen Bahn: wei\u00df \u00fcber grau mit manenta Zierstreifen und\u00a0schwarzer Schnauze.\u00a0Die Farbgebung der Variante E3-1000 ist grau \u00fcber dunkelgr\u00fcn mit hellgr\u00fcnem Zierstreifen und schwarzer Maske um die Cockpitfenster und Dach (wie der 400er). Es wirkt, als h\u00e4tte man das E2-Desgin auf den Doppelstockwagen aufgeblasen. Abgesehen vom fehlenden Entenschnabel ist die Optik \u00e4hlich der 700er bzw. N700er.\u00a0Das Cockpit wirkt klein. Es ist schmaler als der Zug. Die Lampen sind seitlich, unterhalb der Cockpitfenster.
